Cornish Pasty by maggiemae

Cornish Pasty

I particularly put swede on my shopping list for this delicacy! But it also had, leeks, onions, garlic, parsnip as well as swede, potato and of course, mince. Not steak as in the original recipe.
So delicious and I don't have to go down into the Tin Mines for this!
My dad loved Cornish Pasties and used to make them - I have no idea what he put in them though - yours looks delish!

If it's mince it's a Devon pasty ( reliably informed by @swillinbillyflynn ). I admire your patience to do all that chopping! Looks delicious

@30pics4jackiesdiamond ah - that good info! I use mince a lot in recipes rather than casserole steak.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold, and she's trying a pasty from Devon. 😖

Sounds and looks delicious , Maggie ! - is it flaky pastry , if so much lighter than the more solid short-crust pastry - I feel quite hungry looking at it !! fav

@beryl It is flaky, Beryl but supposed to be short, I think. I agree, much lighter.

@grammyn Supposed to be a complete meal, Katy and eaten by hand - the miners were given these to eat way down in the tin mines.

Oh my, that does sound delicious, and the crust looks nice and flakey

Many Cornish miners came to the upper peninsula of Michigan in the mid 1800’s for the copper mining, including my dad’s family. Pasties are still popular in Michigan…had to google “swede” & of course, it is what I call rutabaga…definitely a pasty ingredient! Your photo looks delicious!
