THE CLOCK TOWER, SAINT MARY'S CHURCH, ARNOLD, NOTTINGHAM

This is my 3rd shot of our local church (second shot shown in link below).

It was all very rushed tonight...rushed taking a few pics of the church and rushed uploading too. Oh and I also had a dog lead in my left hand, with Ruby on the end while photographing this scene !!

This is the clock tower of St. Mary's church , Arnold, Nottingham

Why have I got a tree on the left hand side of the frame blocking some of the tower ? Well () it was there and (2) it hides the darker side of the tower which contrated too much to the sunlit side.

Does it work? I'm not sure, but but I had to do a pic today and therefore this is my 'rushed' effort !!

The little 'blob' towards the upper right hand corner of the image is the moon.

SOOC , not even a crop.

Phew , managed to gret my pic up !!

BTW: I did do a few shots by the canal again today and I do have a missing slot from yesterday , so I might post the 'long boat' I saw on the canal !!

Everything St. Mary's is here :

I love the contrast of the green tinted brick in the church and the bright blue sky. Nice job. I can't see your rushing!!!!

@sparkle Juliette, thanks for the compliments and it was good that the moon popped out for the photo...an added bonus :)
April 13th, 2011
Nice tones on this Phil - I think you'll agree though that the moon is too small and probably detracts from the composition.
April 13th, 2011
It almost looks warm! Nice pic, Phil. I even like the mini moon :)
April 13th, 2011
@gill Gill thanks for the fave and thanks for the excellent feedback. I was worried about that tree, but the general opinion seems to be it works ok. The walls are my fave bit of the pic :)
April 13th, 2011
@robinmersh Thanks Robin, the moon is tiny and I did think of cloning out, but then I didn't have time to edit the picture as I was rushed ! So SOOC with a moon !

@anron Thanks Anita, those sandstone bricks always look warm in the sun :)
April 13th, 2011

April 14th, 2011
It definitely works for me! The tree contrasts nicely against the brickwork and somehow gives depth to the picture. Such a lovely looking church.

@judithg Thank You. It is indeed a classic scene / tower, a similar scene could probably be seen in many a parish church throughout the land
