Hartington Court, Chiswick by rumpelstiltskin

Hartington Court, Chiswick

One of my favourite presents this Christmas was a book called Art Deco Britain by the architectural historian Elain Harwood. So my eye was drawn to these flats on the banks of the Thames at Chiswick, which were built in 1938. They take their name from the Duke of Devonshire, whose eldest son is Marquess of Hartington. The Devonshires once owned Chiswick House, and much of Chiswick.
They sure have a nice view of the river. I am amazed the steps go right down to the water.
