The sunset was beautiful tonight so I opened the window that has no screen, balanced my camera on a box, and here's the result. The 'tall' building left of center is where the Chicago Bulls (basketball for non-sports fans or non-US friends) and the Chicago Blackhawks (hockey) play. Both teams are looking at play in the finals so our city is very happy with them. We are pretending the Chicago Bears (US football), well...who? what? Anyway, if curious, our real house is about halfway between the stadium and the bottom edge, but all the way to the left. Using binoculars, we are able to watch workmen on the roof there.
Note from P3 and Big P: Thank you all so much for your well-wishes. We're pleased to report that there have been no accidents in over 24 hours! Big P is feeling great and Taffy bought us a really cool case with padding where we can stay safe between adventures. Dr. Super Glue remains our hero.
And for our friends a day ahead, wishing you a wonderful new year!
So glad to see that P3 and Big P have survived another day to watch a lovely sunset like this. And how nice (and smart) of you to find them a lovely traveling case! Beautiful capture!
The united centre! I'm a big NBA and Bulls fan - watched the game against Brooklyn at lunchtime today (I'm on the otherside of the world). I want to get over to the states to watch some live NBA - I'm hoping next year is the year!
@jamie_m If you do, you'll have to let me know as we live walking distance from it! We mostly are hockey fans, in terms of in person, but the Bulls are fun to watch any time (we had the game on here).
So interesting because I flew right over all this tonight -- did you see my little airplane landing ??? :) I like that you can see your place, and so much more . . . especially the orange lines that comprise the grid you see from the sky as you come into Chicago.
What a wonderful night scene and sunset - So glad Big P and Little P have come to no further harm and that you have bought them an a deluxe padded mode of transport ! A happy New Year to you and your with no more major mishaps .
TOTALLY spectacular image! How cool that you can watch the progress on your house from where you are. The advantage of not having hills and mountains in the way...hahah!! What an amazing view you have...it might be hard to leave that? I find this kind of view so amazing because you can see forever!! FAV
Happy new year to you, Jim and all your 365 toys (glad they now have a safe home). Hope 2015 is a better year for you. Keep an eye on those builders and make sure they don't slack, from your wonderful vantage point. X
Amazing and so beautiful! There´s such beauty in city lights as much as there´s beauty in natural scenaries. No accidents in 24h, lol -keep up the good work :)
What a wonderful view Taffy!! So pleased you can see your builders - you can keep a watchful eye on them. Wishing you and Jim a very Happy New Year lets hope it's a healthy and uneventful year for you both!! Are we still carrying on with our mentoring group? I hope so as it really gave me a boost at the end on this year when I was flagging a little. Fav!!
Beautiful shot of the city at night/sunset. I wouldn't like living in a big city like Chicago but for shots like this it's great to live in a high-rise
A lovely night cityscape... with a personal tour. :) It makes the visuals more interesting when you can identify what you are looking at. Happy New Year and hoping for a serene, fireless, 2015! :)
Fantastic shot and what a view. You are very brave balancing your camera through an open window at that height. Remember what happened to Big P. You don't want a camera with a broken neck and beak do you.
Wonderful cityscape and a beautiful backdrop Taffy. Wishing you all the very best of good health and happiness in 2015 and I hope the house gets sorted on schedule!
Taffy, you are so brave. All things considered to have opened the window without a screen to use your camera. (ah but a camera isn't really a toy) Really super results.
That is one fantastic shot Taffy, your images give a really good feel for the city. Perhaps you've missed your vocation? Love this shot, so much I could say, but just don't have the time right now. Happy New Year to you and Jim, may 2015 be happy, healthy and restorative.
@joansmor@onewing Heehee Babs and Joan -- I detect a theme in your comments! I had put the camera strap around my neck to be safe! Learned my lesson...Happy New Year to you both!
Super night scape. Whenever you feel down about your sports teams you can always say "at least I don't live in Toronto". Raptors are our only hope this year and altho they're playing well it's a distant hope....back to the World Juniors. 😃
Happy New Year Taffy.
I would be up all night gazing at it!
