For two years now I have had a go at a long term photographic project, last year it was to photograph my garden every day from the same spot and this year (which I am half way through) I am doing a still life every day. Both these projects have taught me a lot and this is especially true for the Still Life. With the latter the main thing I am learning so far is the difference that even the simplest that lighting can make and composition. So what I was wondering what other long term projects are 365'ers either doing or thinking of doing or might just be an idea in the deep recesses of the brain!
I know I am only half way through my current daily project, but I am already trying to think of what my project could be next year, any ideas?
I have done many of the 30 day projects. 30-shots in April could be expanded to a year. Like your garden year, I used my backyard, but used many points of view and of course in a whole year the seasonal changes would provide a lot of variety. I have also done 30 days wild in May where I went out to our open areas to get wild flowers and other plants and trees.
If you're really bold, you could expand the "100 strangers" project to 365. A photograph a day was enough of a challenge for me to do the first two years. So, I really admire your creative and challenging approach to a year long project. Bravo!
βA picture is worth a thousand words.β I love reading so in 2019, I did a literary photograph project where I matched a photo with lines from a poem or book. It was very rewarding as I was exposed to new literature and I had to approach every shot as a possible story. Nonetheless, I was happy when 31 Dec rolled around π
As Ann said, a year long project is a challenge to oneβs creativity and I applaud you! π
I think long term projects are really interesting and I really admire your dedication. One I have thought of doing but only do it spasmodically is to document a site in my neighbourhood which is changing, like a building project or a road project. One of thereasons I think about doing this is that often small changes happen over a period and then, without really paying attention, a whole street or area has changed and it's hard to remember what it used to be like
@30pics4jackiesdiamond@shutterbug49@cristinaledesma33@cristinaledesma33@olivetreeann@ankers70 Thank you all for your very interesting suggestions, I will explore them over the next few weeks before deciding which to do for my next year's project. At the moment I like all the suggestions although the thought of Ann H's 365 strangers is particularly daunting but probably the one I would learn most from! If you think of any more please post. Cheers.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thanks for this; I think you are absolutely right about not doing one a day, I am pretty sure I wouldn't be able to keep that up!
Oh my! Ninety five percent of my images are of what grows in my front and back yards, and woods. I live in the countryside. I've been doing this a very long time on 365 - since 2011. I can imagine it's getting old for some of my followers. I have learned a lot - mainly from my failures. Just enjoy what you shoot. =)
I'm thinking about doing a project to photograph from the same spot(s) over the next several months and document the changes, Hope I can follow through! Here's my 2 starting points:

Use the same prop for a year ( a month is hard enough though!)
A colour a month for a rainbow year.
I'm sure somewhere Ross @scrivna has a blog about doing different projects in the photo a day habit
As Ann said, a year long project is a challenge to oneβs creativity and I applaud you! π
