Last day with the 5D. Not much to say. I love this camera. In the last 10 years I have owned 3! The first two I sold to finance other cameras but both times I have regretted getting rid of the 5D after a while. This third one is going nowhere :-)
I did discover however that the 28-135mm lens is very soft in the corners and I suspect it it is slightly de-centered because the softness is more pronounced on the left. Time to start looking for a new standard lens for the camera :-)
@ludwigsdiana Hi Diana.
The 5D is a lot bigger and heavier than the 80D
80D: 748 gram 139 x 105 x 79mm
5D: 915 gram 152 x 113 x 75mm
My 5D is also a very old camera (from 2005) so it wouldn't be an upgrade in any way from your 80D. Even the latest in the 5D series, "5D Mark IV" is from 2016 and I don't think you would notice much image quality improvement other than in low light shooting.
A bigger problem is that you cannot use your Canon EF-S lenses on the Canon 5D series. You would have to upgrade your lenses too and it probably wouldn't be worth the price. The 80D is a very good camera!
If you do consider an upgrade you could always look at the 90D. It is about the same size and weight as the 80D and use the lenses you already have. It has more megapixels (32MP), and shoots 11 frames pr. second for those wildlife/birds in flight shots as opposed to the 80D's 7 frames pr. sec. For landscape and everyday photography I don't think you would see much IQ improvement.
There is also Canon's new mirrorless R cameras. These can use your lenses with an adapter, but as much as I like Canon I can not recommend upgrading to the R system until we see that Canon is willing to allow the use of third party accessories (mainly lenses and flashes).
I have thoroughly enjoyed your shots with this camera. Is it heavier than the 80d? Maybe I should consider and upgrade ;-)
