Unequal Halves

Cardinals are not very big birds, compared to bluejays, starlings, or grackles for instance but, sitting on the other side of the feeder from this tiny little chipping sparrow, he looks like a big bruiser. ( I'm calling this a sort of half and half.)
What a clever h/h Joanne !! and a lovely shot of little and large enjoying and sharing feeding from the same feeder !!

What a super image to give a size comparison. Nearly everybody must know how big a sparrow is - but i have no idea how big many of the wonderful birds are in the 356 images. I thought the Cardinal was about the size of a wren! :)

@robz LOL well I’m not exactly sure how big a wren is but this little chipping sparrow is a lot smaller than most of the other kinds of sparrows around here. The house or tree sparrows are bigger than it.

@gardencat Oh gosh - now I'm really confused!! I didn't know there were so many types of sparrow - we just seem to have the one type here - I guess it's the introduced house sparrow!! I'll have to do a bit of research..... Thanks for the info! PS our wrens are very tiny and very delicate with a very long upright tail. Cheers Rob
